"Cecalik,cecalik, where is your nest?"


"Di Rumpun padi, beuk!"
( the female cecalik : ) "Between the rice stalks,monkey!"


"Di rumpun padi, kalu miang?"
(the monkey : ) "Between the rice stalks-what if the hairs make you itch?"


"Miang ku ( Aku ) mandi!" padeak cecalik.
"if hairs cause itching-then i take a bath!" quoth the cecalik


Padeak beuk :
The monkey says:


"Mandi,kalu dingin?"
"take a bath-what if you get cold?"


"Dingin, aku jemur!"
"if i get cold- i shall dry in the sunshine"


"Jemur- kalu panas?" padeak beuk
"dry in the sun- what if you get too hot?"


"Panas, aku betudung!" padeak cecalik
"too hot, then i'll use sunhat!"


"Betudung, kalu dimakan tumo?"padeak beuk
"Use sunhat, what if the lice eat you?"


"Makan tumo,aku mati!" padeak cecalik
"Eat lice,i'll shall die for that!" (i.e i'll give my life for it ) quoth the cecalik


this unexpected cunning answer of the bird makes the monkey laugh,so that the bird can fly away from the monkey's open mouth

Denah Balei Kejei

Balie kejei adalah tempat yang dibuat khusus untuk tempat pelaksanaan semua prosesi kejei. Balai Kejei pada zaman dahulu didirikan kurang lebih seminggu sebelum acara kejei dimulai , dibuat secara gotong royong oleh masyarakat sedusun, semarga & marga tetangga yang berdekatan.

Ukuran balai adalah 6 x 8 m atau 6 x 12 m.

Setelah balai kejei selesai didirikan, tugas selanjutnya diserahkan pada “tuwei batin” yaitu orang yang menguasai ilmu kebatinan (seperti dukun), serah terimah ini dalam bahasa rejang di sebut dengan kata “ semreak kumat” yang artinya lebih kurang, menyerahkan kuasa hajatan dan untuk bidang tugas diluar balei kejei diserahkan kepada ginde (kepala adat) dusun/desa bersangkutan dimana Kejei diadakan .

Sacred Kejai dance ( Rejang Traditional Dance )

Kejei is the name of sacred dance in tribe rejang.and the dancer called anok sangey ( sons of god ).the boys and the girls must a virgin,they must have short nail,not yet married and the girl is not in menstruation.if one of them break the rules, something will be happen,like the sound of the gung ( rejang traditional music instrumen )will be changed, or the dancers can be fainting.
